Therapeutic vs Clinical Grade Essential Oils???

Christmas is a time for giving from the heart with homemade gifts.  It's also a time to consider safety and quality in what you're giving to those you love.  I have been studying about essential oils for several years.  I've taken certification courses, read nearly a hundred books, and have been educating myself to make an informed choice in my essential oils.

Before September 25th, 2014 of this year, we had Therapeutic grade for the best essential oils we
could obtain.  There are so many on the market, and I found it interesting to learn through 3rd party testing, not all oils are created equal.  Then to learn that therapeutic grade is simply a marketing term, nothing more.  Well on Sept 25th, the largest launch of essential oils to date.  Zija, the parent company, having invested over $10 Million dollars to the development & launch of Ameo the First Clinical grade essential oils in the USA.  Was this just another marketing term?  I was so happy to learn about the science that supports Clinical grade essential oils.  With the following links, you'll be able to view & understand more about the true difference in essential oils.  Why would you consider anything less than a clinical grade?  Well, yes I understand that's all you knew about, until now.  That's all that was available, up until now.  But now, you have a choice.  Remain loyal to your therapeutic marketing term oils, or try the New Industry Leader with Clinical Grade Essential Oils, from Ameo.

Ameo & Zija develop their blends of essential oils through Research.

Cell Health Series By McKenna Gordon on Wednesday, December 17, 2014

CaCo-2 (pronounced "kay-koh") is used by scientists as a way of studying the bioavailability of constituents in the intestinal tract.

Bioavailability = how well your body can absorb what you're giving it (like the nutrients in your food, and the constituents in essential oils) afterall, you aren't what you eat, you are what you absorb. The more bioavailable essential oils are, the better they will work because it means our body can use every molecule.

Constituents = the therapeutic compounds in essential oils. Some have 1 or 2, some have hundreds.
Intestinal tract = you know what this is, but the reason it's important here is because this is where we absorb all our nutrients. So bioavailability tests are performed using CaCo-2 cells, which are cells from the intestinal tract... the most important cells for nutrient absorption.

In the first comment there is a picture of how CaCo-2 Assays are performed. Two containers: one inside the other. The bottom of the inside container is just a really thick layer of CaCo-2 cells. That makes it so that NOTHING can travel from the outer container to the inner container unless it can pass through the CaCo-2 cells. This test is how scientists found out that iron isn't very absorbable by itself, but if you add Vitamin C and iron together, Vitamin C "carries" the iron through the CaCo-2 cells. Now doctors recommend that iron and C are always taken together. Fascinating.

CaCo-2 Assays have never been performed with essential oils. Dr. Plant is dedicated to bringing more science to the world of essential oils and was curious what he would find if he performed a CaCo-2 Assay on Améo essential oils. What he found was incredible, and led him and Matt Warner to create these 3 new blends.

First, he tested the bioavailability of ALL of our single oils. They're all pretty great! BUT, from this assay, they discovered that some oil constituents act as "SuperCarriers" for other oil constituents (kind of like how Vitamin C increases the absorption of iron). In other words, some constituents facilitate the bioavailability (effectiveness) of other constituents. Dr. Plant made up the term SuperCarriers in reference to these particular oils.

So in compiling empirical data from the CaCo-2 essential oil assays, I present to you the Cell Health Blends:
Cell Therapy
Nourishing Blend

Full of SuperCarriers! So if you use this in conjunction with your favorite single oil, it's like supercharging that oil. He said especially in combination with Frankincense or True Lavender, but that all oils are enhanced by these SuperCarrier constituents. In theory, this oil blend can make things like your healthy whole foods diet and moringa supplements even more bioavailable so your body can absorb more of the nutrients and get more out of your healthy habits.

Cell Defense
 Antioxidant Blend
This blend contains the most highly anti-oxidant oils PLUS the SuperCarriers that supercharge those antioxidant constituents. This is an amazing way to protect your cells from free radical damage that leads to disease including cancer.

Cell Support
Immunity-Boosting Blend
This blend contains the oils that have the most powerful impact on the immune system, along with the specific SuperCarriers that boost the immunity oils.
It's recommended that all 3 of these blends are used in conjunction on a daily basis. 3 drops of each in a capsule internally. For children over 6, you can make a roller-bottle recipe as follows:
12 drops Cell Therapy
12 drops Cell Defense
12 drops Cell Support
1 Tbsp FCO

Most people have the mindset of using essential oils as a replacement for synthetic medicines. This is good and is better than using chemicals in most cases. However, that mentality of "treating symptoms" (called allopathic medicine) isn't the best way to go, as it's better to get to the root of the problem. If someone constantly has cold and flu and uses essential oils to get through it, that's better than using OTC drugs. But what about addressing WHY this individual is so sick all the time? Using this cell health series preventively, in conjunction with plenty of fruits and veggies in the diet can help us all become healthier and have the best chance at avoiding sickness and disease. It'll still be good to have all those other oils on hand for when they're needed, but they won't be needed as often as they used to be!

Why did you join Ameo clinical grade Essential Oils?

Why did you join Ameo?

Jamie S. I'm an oil newbie. I've been with Zija since last spring and have been loving the nutrition...it's tremendously changed my mental and physical health. The business side never appealed to me in the beginning but now I'm excited to start generating an additional income for my family. EOs are a big deal in my market so I think there's no better time than now to be part of the best EO company. I love the integrity of the leadership, the overall culture and team support, top of the line nutrition and now oils, comp plan like no other company, and I think we have a huge advantage over other companies that we have a wide range of products to reach the masses (nutrition, workout line, skin care, oils). There ya go. That's my short story in a nutshell.

Rene A. I came from dōTERRA and while it's been a hard personal transfer I am glad to have a clean start and a true chance at success.

Laura J. I have used Nature's Sunshine for many yrs and still love them. I have found Ameo of equal or higher quality. I have tried other brands but don't like them because they are obviously not the purity or quality of Ameo or Nature's Sunshine.

Erin Sandlin-mills the research behind ameo and the quality of the oils. you can smell it
Amy A. I came from Young Living, which I thought was the best. But with all their problems, I started looking for another source & found Ameo. Then what I learned of Ameo, I would never go back to Young Living. I want only the very best for my family.

Bethany SD I came from dōTERRA and love Améo oils. They are better quality and I feel like I have a better chance to grow my business.

Zoe B. As a practitioner, I want to know I'm giving the best I can for my patients, and Ameo proves it's clinical grade viewing it's tests on each bottle. Being endorsed by Doctor Daniel Penoel PhD, is extremely impressive to me.

Jamie F. I agree worth Erin Sandlin-mills. I came from doTerra but am finding that Ameo works faster & i need less, less often

Mary J. I have a health source store, and couldn't keep oils in stock which isn't good for business. I switched to Ameo and love that my shipment shows up within a couple days of ordering. My customer's have said they like the Ameo oils better, an added bonus.

Jessica M. I'm very impressed with the Ameo exclusive Cell blends.

Bob J. Our son's have ADHD, and we need the best oils for them and a reliable source. Ameo came along just in time to provide both. We hate having them on medications.

Trudy L. I've been with YL for 8 yrs. My frustration over other testing I've seen that didn't show what I had expected, and I changed to Ameo because of the proof in their testing of purity.

John J. With all the essential oil companies out there, I've looked into many of them. Ameo impresses me with the science of testing their oils more than other companies, and they still come out more pure, more "cell active & cell permeable" which I before I thought all oils were. Now I understand an oil can be "near pure" but "dead oils". Ameo is a viably active oil supply. And to have someone like Dr Penoel endorsing Ameo means even more.

Natural Remedies Becks, I have used a variety of oils over the years some of good quality and some not as good. I use them with my clients in my natural health practice and was never sure what oils to recommend. I started hearing rumors about some of the different companies and after conducting my own research was greatly disappointed in what I discovered not just about the oils but those that represent the companies. I needed proof of quality not just the word of someone with vague qualifications. I wanted to be able to recommend a product that was pure and do so with confidence. With Ameo there are no grey areas. They have full disclosure about their product and it is backed up by numerous trusted and highly respected experts in the field. You can smell, feel and see the difference with Ameo oils. Their training program is top notch ensuring that everyone using and sharing this product does so responsibly and safely. They also make the oils readily available to everyone without pressure or obligation to sign up and fork over a ton of $$ upfront. The purchase options make it easy for anyone of any financial means to enjoy these high quality oils. That says something! There are other reasons why I love Ameo and why I switched to them but these are a just a few of the main reasons.

Debbie Z, I love to research, and I want to know what I'm offering is the very best available.  Before this, I truly believed it was YL.  However, after Sept 25th 2014, Ameo was launched.  That's when I learned I was still following blindly.  Before, I would read everything I could get my hands on.  And I wasn't happy with learning about 3rd party testing, court cases, etc.  Then I realized, what I was learning was being guided toward the market others wanted me to accept.  I started researching deeper, to find there are "true" authorities who've been working with clinical grade essential oils in real medical practices, who are actual Medical Doctors, for 40 years.  That everyone who's anyone in essential oils or aromatherapy has probably learned from or through books by Dr Daniel Penoel.  That experts in BioScience like Dr Joshua Plant PhD (Harvard Medical), have more knowledge.  And then when I realized that other companies wouldn't release their test results per batch?  That we were taking their word on the purity, but that Ameo not only does the industry standard testing, but additional testing, AND lets everyone see EACH batch, EVERY oils tests simply by typing in the Batch # found on bottom of each bottle, at http://ameo.com/ameo-difference.  No more accepting blindly, what a company wants you to think.  Then I tested at home, between the oils I have from before, and Ameo, and I was very happy to find Ameo came out on top.  We covered the labels, had people smell them.  Some we had them taste, and all chose Ameo on this blind (folded) test.  Then I tried Ameo for some simple daily concerns, and was very happy to see the results to be complete, I believe faster, but very much satisfied.

Go to http://ameo.com/ameo-difference and type in

34256- Lemon
34222- Peppermint
34266- True Lavender

Once it hits that Distributor, and if that Distributor meets the requirements—is at least Active 150 and has introduced one (1) new member or helped one of his/her Personally Enrolled Rank advance over the last rolling Period,—he or she will get the listed percentage.

Do you live in Toxic-Free Environment? Think again!!!

Raising our family, we "thought" we were eating healthy, living clean, using disinfecting cleaners to prevent germs & illness.  What I didn't know then, was how TOXIC, I was making our home.

Now more things are made aware.  Education is key to making informed choices & changes.
So, we've built our home, no carpets, no curtains, we live in the country and have shades between the glass in the windows.  We have tile & real hard wood floors.  We wanted to be "Green" for the Environment and less Toxic for our home & Family Health. So we have a home wind generator to produce most of our electricity (we're still on the grid for calm days) and I do my laundry & cleaning on windy days.  We live in the country so we have drilled an 850 ft deep water well, tests great water, no run off toxins from local farm fields, no toxins added in water treatment plants.  We have septic system (because of country location), and treat it monthly with bio-active natural product to eat waste, and have never had to have it pumped.  We have a ground source heat pump system, no fuel, no propane, no natural gas.  Energy efficient with 5 ground wells gives us winter warmth & summer cooling.  We furnished the home with all new energy efficient appliances.  We though we did our part, you'd think so, right?

Then I found this "partial" list of products made from Petroleum (144 of 6,000 items).  ONE 42-Gallon Barrel of oil creates 19.4 gallons of gasoline.  The rest (over half) is used to make things like... are you read?  Do you think you're Toxic free?  Do you think you've avoided everything possible especially petrochemical toxins?  Guess what... HIGHLY unlikely when you read on you'll see...American's consume petroleum products at a rate of 3-1/2 gallons of oil and more than 250 cubic feet of natural gas per DAY EACH!  But, as shown here Petroleum is not just used for fuel.

Can you HONESTLY< say that you can replace ALL Petroleum with Hemp, or Wind & Solar, or all Natural products TOTALLY?  Highly unlikely as this list is only 144 of the 6,000 items made from Petroleum products, remembering it's more than 1/2 a barrel of oil is used for products and not fuels.

NOW, with all this to think about, yes by all means remove all items you financially can replace with toxic free--petroleum free products.  Use natural woods, no plastics, change the home Green energy.
And with what remains, make your own homemade products (much cheaper) for Laundry soap, Shampoo, shaving cream, toothpaste.   Consider Detoxing your body, detox bath, detox hair.  Yes, my own hair dresser heard of detoxing your scalp.  She had just attended a class on this, that our hair care products & even natural oils will clog pores and can cause hair loss among other conditions of the scalp.  Detox regularly, I do this at least once a month now.  I do detox bath at least once a week.  And I do make homemade products, cleaners, laundry soap 4 gallons for $3 cost, only takes a few minutes.  Even I could find more to do in removing toxins from our home.  But the important thing, is to remove those we can control most, can live without most, and detoxify our body on a regular basis.  Eat healthy, take quality nutritional supplements, exercise, plenty of quality sleep (8 hrs avg).

Skincare with Aloe Vera vs Water

The Trouble with Water & the Case for Aloe Vera

Nearly all skin care brands formulate their products using water as the first ingredient. After all, not only is water abundant, it’s also inexpensive, making it an excellent base – from a manufacturer’s point-of-view. But what about the product end user’s perspective?
For years, consumers have been led to believe that water-based products benefit the skin and help to hydrate it. But the simple, undisputed fact is this: skin cannot absorb water. If it did, we wouldn’t be able to swim. A skin care product’s base ingredient is tasked with delivering all the other included ingredients to the skin so the product may provide it’s intended benefit. Given that the skin cannot absorb water, it is very difficult for the other ingredients to penetrate.
Aloe is readily absorbed into the skin and is highly therapeutic. It is also an excellent anti-inflammatory, and inflammation is at the underlying cause of a wide array of skin conditions. For this reason, aloe is an excellent base for skin care products.

Aloe in Skin Care – It’s a Matter of Concentration

Many companies tout the use of aloe in their products, but what they don’t want you to know is that aloe must be used in high concentrations to ensure its benefits will be realized. In order to achieve this, aloe must be used as the product’s base ingredient. As such, it will be the first ingredient listed on the back of the product. I’m willing to bet that instead, you’ll find water listed in that primary role.
Water only dilutes the active ingredients in the product, which makes any aloe it does contain virtually worthless. Additionally, water-based products are essentially non-therapeutic. To make them therapeutic, medicines must be added to the product formula, which often puts consumers at risk of adverse side effects. Conversely, aloe-based products are therapeutic by their very nature because there is enough aloe in them to provide therapeutic results.
Given aloe’s ability to penetrate deep into the skin’s layers (unlike water, which cannot be absorbed), it is an excellent carrier for other effective ingredients. Therefore, beyond the need to have a high concentration in order to experience its benefits, a base of aloe offers additional advantages.

The Quality of Aloe Vera in Your Skin Care

All Aloe is Not Created Equal. The highest or purest aloe is pharmaceutical grade. It is the most expensive to use given the long harvesting and processing techniques required to “purify” it. For that reason, it is typically only used in medical applications.
The most commonly used form of aloe vera is cosmetic grade. This includes products that say they contain aloe extract, aloe leaf juice, or even certified organic aloe. None of these forms are comparable to the potency, purity, and effectiveness of Certified Organic Pharmaceutical Grade Aloe Vera in TreSkinRX Products.
The pure and potent form of aloe contained in the TréSkinRX Products, has exceptional abilities relevant to skin care.
Aloe penetrates tissue.Unlike water, aloe can be absorbed by the skin. In fact, it is absorbed deep into the skin’s layers. This is due to the presence of lignin, a substance similar to cellulose. This ability allows aloe to act as an excellent carrier for the other components of Aloe Vera, as well as other ingredients that are included in aloe-based skin care products.
Aloe acts as an anesthetic.Aloe has a high magnesium content and contains aspirin-like compounds. Therefore, it is commonly used to alleviate the pain of burns and wounds, including countless skin ailments.
Aloe has antimicrobial properties.Among the antimicrobial compounds found in aloe are saponin, which acts as an antisepsis, and barbaloin, which is effective against Mycobaterium, a family of bacteria known to cause serious diseases. Given that bacteria is a main cause of acne, aloe’s antimicrobial properties are highly beneficial in treatment of the condition.
Aloe is an anti-inflammatory.Aloe contains salicylic acid, a beta hydroxy acid known for its anti-inflammatory capabilities. Additionally, it contains sterols that inhibit acute inflammation, similar to cortisone, but without the side effects. Nearly all skin conditions stem from inflammation, making aloe an ideal remedy across the board.
Aloe is proven to heal wounds.Scientific research has shown that several components in aloe are responsible for the substance’s excellent ability to regenerate cells. These include gibberellin, a growth hormone-like substance that increases protein synthesis and lectin, a protein that increases collagen activity and improves the collagen. Aloe may be utilized to heal conditions, such as acne or eczema, while improving the overall health of the skin.
Aloe is readily available in nearly every type of skin care product – from cleansers and serums to moisturizers and sunscreens. However, few, if any of these products deliver exceptional results. Why? Because of limitations in quality and concentration, as well as inappropriate formulations that fail to maximize the active ingredients present in aloe.

The Aloe Vera in TréSkinRX

Like other cosmetic ingredients, aloe is available in a range of grades. In descending order, these include pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic, reagent and technical. In skin care products cosmetic-grade aloe is the most commonly utilized.

In addition to the numerous beneficial components present in aloe, the plant also contains active ingredients considered impurities because of their capacity to cause contact irritation or allergic reactions in some individuals. Given that a percentage of impurities are allowable in cosmetic-grades, per the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, cosmetic-grade aloe may actually be detrimental to some skin types. For this reason, it is necessary to select a product that utilizes pharmaceutical-grade aloe, the purest form available. Pharmaceutical-grade is generally reserved for medical and pharmaceutical applications but some skin care companies utilize it to ensure optimal results from their products.
Beyond the grade of aloe, there are also two main types that are used in skin care products. These include “whole leaf” and “inner fillet.”
Whole leaf aloe is made by grinding both the interior and outer rind of the aloe leaf while inner fillet aloe is made by removing the outer rind of the leaf and harvesting only the interior of the stalk. Aloe gel made from whole leaf is less expensive but is subjected to more processing. Thus, it contains more undesirable materials. While whole leaf aloe does have a dedicated following, nearly all research conducted on aloe’s benefits was done using inner fillet. Therefore, inner fillet aloe has a proven scientific track record. Harvesting and processing techniques matter.

Aloe’s active ingredients begin to break down and lose their effectiveness immediately after harvesting; a situation that is only compounded by inferior processing. When aloe leaves are crushed, an enzyme is activated that begins to kill off the mannose molecules in aloe. In time, this enzyme will digest all of aloe’s beneficial polysaccharides as a termite digests wood.

To avoid this decomposition of benefits, aloe must be processed within four to six hours of harvesting. This ensures the harvested aloe retains its “bioactivity.” In other words, it maintains its therapeutic healing properties and will work synergistically with the body’s own healing mechanisms. Additionally, effective processing requires that aloe’s molecular structure be stabilized, standardized, freeze-dried and ground to a powder or created into a gel – all within that short window of opportunity.

So how can you ensure these guidelines have been properly followed in the aloe contained in your skin care product line? The International Aloe Science Council (IASC), a non-profit trade organization dedicated to providing the world with the highest quality of aloe, is the governing body that certifies high quality aloe. By purchasing products that utilize IASC certified aloe, you can rest assured that the aloe contained in a product meets only the most stringent quality standards.
