Face Mapping Your Skin & Essential Oils

Improving Your Skin

Blemishes on your face and skin can take away from your self-confidence and make it hard to look your best.

Oils that cleanse, promote self healing, rejuvenate your skin include helichrysum oil, bergamot, tea tree, sandalwood, lemon oil and vetiver.

Helichrysum
Helichrysum calms, protects and promotes healing of skin that is inflamed, damaged, or stressed. It is known for promoting & supporting healing properties. It helps to fade scars, stretch marks, and reduce the appearance of surgical scars & skin blemishes. It's one of the few essential oils that contains diketones, which help reduce scar tissue and stimulate the growth of new skin tissue. With its strong antibacterial properties, Helichrysum can help reduce breakouts in acne-prone skin.
With calming and soothing properties, helichrysum is great for those with sensitive skin. If you have rosacea or dermatitis, you can use this oil without worry. The helichrysum oil will help fade redness and soothe dryness without exacerbating your condition. It's gentle enough for children suffering from inflammation and dermatitis. In fact, it's often compared to chamomile because of these properties. Helichrysum is also moisturizing and will help prevent dryness and cracking of the skin.
Helichrysum oil also has impressive anti-aging properties. Not only does it relieve inflammation, but it helps regenerate skin tissue. It also has antioxidant properties, which protect the skin from damaging free radicals. It can help your skin look more firm, youthful and vibrant.
Watch for posts on additional oils to help improve your skin conditions.

Bergamot
Bergamot oil is made from the rind of an Italian citrus fruit and has a citrusy and sweet aroma. It's antiseptic and antibacterial properties make it ideal for treating oily skin and acne. It also helps to minimize psoriasis, eczema, cold sores and rashes. Bergamot oil will make your skin sun-sensitive, so exercise caution when using it.

Lemon
Lemon oil contains a high percentage of limonene, which is a potent antioxidant phytochemical that prevents DNA damage that may cause accelerated aging. With it's refreshing scent, it cleans oily skin and disinfects to help prevent breakouts. Lemon oil also has bleaching properties which can help reduce age spots or uneven skin tone.
Lemon oil will make your skin sun-sensitive, so exercise caution when using it, and avoid direct sunlight for 12 hrs.

 Tea Tree
Tea Tree oil is strong aromatic and powerful disinfectant. It is a good treatment for fungal infections of the skin, a condition notoriously resistant to treatment. Tea tree oil also protects skin from harmful sun damage and can be used to diminish the signs and affects of acne and other skin impurities.

 Sandalwood
Sandalwood oil is known for it's skin-friendly cleansing properties. Soothing for dry skin, it moisturizes, tones and rejuvenates. Sandalwood oil also reduces scarring, blemishes, spots and skin scaling areas.

Anti-Aging and Skin Rejuvenation

While wrinkles, thinner skin and age spots may seem inevitable as you age, there are numerous essential oils you can use to minimize these issues. Several oils have natural anti-aging, anti-oxidant and cell-protective properties you can use on a regular basis to mitigate age-related skin deterioration.
Even if you are young, you can use these oils to brighten, hydrate, and refresh your skin, helping you look less tired. By using these oils early, you may be able to slow down aging on your face, neck, hands and other vulnerable areas.

You can add oils to your usual face cream, dilute them, or use them neat directly on your skin. I personally strongly recommend a skincare line that uses only Medical grade Aloe Vera as the base of each product, all natural, and recently released from clinical use only to public availability.
